I think it is worth pointing out , that anyone who has lived in Thailand for any length of time , abhors Songkran , and each year from April 13th to the 19th , most of the golfers head to off to foreign golf courses .

A week of being soaked each time you appear from your hotel is more than most can take.

A once beautiful festival taken over by hooligans , is the normal comments.

Erchie,

Thank you for the comment. It is true that you have to be careful not to get wet, especially if you are staying at a lower end hotel do not like partaking in the Songkran fun.

On the other hand, being in Bangkok and most other places in Thailand for Songkran can be one of the most enjoyable and interesting experiences anywhere in the world.

Combine the fine celebrations with virtually non-existent traffic and empty golf courses, and it leaves most golf travelers with a totally different impression from what you have described.

In any case, I guess it is a case of whether you see the glass as half full or half empty. I always say when in Thailand do as the Thais do and you will have sanuk sanuk!

Cheers,
Mark

I can only speak to what I have seen but I have seen and Pattaya has a well deserved reputation believe it is changing.I wouldn't say it is a family resort yet but there are many beautiful golf courses in and near Pattaya and other activities can be found easily without having the seedier side always smacking you in the face.
